and then there were three...
well, we made it. we’re all alive and somehow managed to survive the trip without any major disaster. it was a sad morning here at the maleku hostel in san jose. Lo lo left solo, and three emo teens were left watching and waving by the gate. this is not the end, but only the begining. we have all learned so much, but it is due time to go back to the realities and hardships of real life. ...

Ways to pinch your pennies after blowing bills in...
1. “Oops, that free water was from the tap?” 2. Hitchike in the back of pick-ups and or wagons. 3. Street corn. 4. Share everything. 5. Opt for sweat instead of A/C. 6. Go to local ladies nights for free shots. 7. Picking fruit off the ground. 8. Handwashing clothes with dish soap. 9. Eating as much of the ‘All-you-can-eat’ breakfast buffet as possible. 10. Opting...

Ways to blow your cash in Central America
1. Can anyone say ‘Presidential Suite?’ 2. Forget the address of your bus terminal so you have to pay a taxi to drive you to every single station in Oaxaca. 3. “Woah, that cheese was $7USD?” 4. Teaching everyone you meet how to shotgun. 5. 32 bottles of hot sauce down the hatch. 6. Having to pay to pee. 7. Iced americanos on a hot 40 degree day, how could you say no? ...

hostel living and hungover surf trips.
The dorm room experience is finally coming to a much needed end. We have been stationed in San Juan del Sur for about a week now, hanging our hats at the largest hostel in the town. We have met a lot of interesting people. You know you´re living in hostel life when… - You use shotgunning as an ice breaker. - Sublime is playing, again, and you know the words. - You end up at the...

what happens when 4 kids from canada get a ballin 5 star hotel suite in el savlador´s capital for a birthday party¿¿¿ shit gets real…real sloppy. blackout status was achieved. The night included 6pm shotgun, cathy´s blender surprises, a mini sink puke before 7pm, more than a couple tequilla shots at the downstairs bar, kit swap, food fight, heavy duty wresting match, crossing a 4 lane...

A lesson in making new friends.
So the four of us have been in El Tunco for just over four days now. It is a beautiful spot on the West coast, seemingly far off the English speaking, beaten trail. However, despite this factor working against us we have managed to make some good buds that are local to the town, hooking it up with free surf lessons, guided hikes to amazing and remote waterfalls, and showed us what proper El Tunco...

Dollar dollar bills
So we made it to El Salvador. So far, so good. Currently staying in an apartment style pad in the radical little town of El Tunco, on the Pacific Coast. Main priorities for today are grocery and beer shopping in La Libertad (only a short chicken bus ride away) and booking the flashiest hotel room available in San Salvador (highest crime rate in Central America…we’re going to lay some...

Dogs barking for days
Mexico to Guatemala in too many hours… Twelve hour bus ride from Pochutla, Oaxaca, Mexico south to Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico. Eat breakfast in grimey bus station while people watch. Light-speed taxi ride to the Guatemalan border. Walk across border, which consists of a bridge, in stagnant heat. Sweat furiously. Get forced/scammed by 3 Guatemalan men to pay them a couple hundred Queztales to...

pain for pleasure
With minutes to spare we hop into the very back of a white van, along with 11 other individuals. We’re talking thigh to thigh, cheek to cheek, sweat to sweat contact for 7 hours straight. Ripping on the “highway” through the wild and windy mountains en route to Puerto Escondido with cows and donkeys roadside, centimetres from the speakers blaring Mexican soft rock in our ears....

with the past two days being full of clear skies, sun, epic waterfall-swim excursions, plus late night fire dance shows, we werent upset to wake to the sound of rain in the jungle outside our bungalow. we figure its time to move on to san cristobal tomorrow morning, roughly 5 hours by bus, aint nothin to the last trip. we have been staying at a mellow bungalow-hotel-camping resort, Maya Bell, and...

Day One - together at last.
So after a week of Lo, Catherine, and Kenzie soaking up mega-rays on the popular beaches of Playa del Carmen, Kendal made her way to a dingy hostel room to find the ladies sipping some cold Pacificos. Kendal´’s flight was more than late, so Kenzie spent a good portion of the late evening running around town trying to find her…but alas, they ruinited and had a solid bro-down before...

the central america adventure
Four girls set off on a journey across the lands of Central America. No real plan, path, or final destination has been decided,  the only true goal being to heist as many million dollar pools and luxury resorts as possible.  Aside from this, hammocks will be slept in, beaches laid upon, rays bagged, and burritos devoured. Kendal Benesh - queen of the banjo and avid birder. Catherine Pitura -...
