well, we made it. we’re all alive and somehow managed to survive the trip without any major disaster. it was a sad morning here at the maleku hostel in san jose. Lo lo left solo, and three emo teens were left watching and waving by the gate. this is not the end, but only the begining. we have all learned so much, but it is due time to go back to the realities and hardships of real life.

A lesson in making new friends.
So the four of us have been in El Tunco for just over four days now. It is a beautiful spot on the West coast, seemingly far off the English speaking, beaten trail. With minutes to spare we hop into the very back of a white van, along with 11 other individuals. We’re talking thigh to thigh, cheek to cheek, sweat to sweat contact for 7 hours straight. Ripping on the “highway” through the wild and windy mountains en route to Puerto Escondido with cows and donkeys roadside, centimetres from the speakers blaring Mexican soft rock in our ears....

turns out drinking is illegal on the streets in oaxaca. good to know. a very outrageous local bmx kid had the balls to let us know, and then showed us a better place to drink beer- the local mary j smoke hide-out. ha. skipped that scene.
missed the bus this morn…now we’re on route to puerto escondido via giant big white van…wish us luck.

We had time to check out the traditional mayan medical centre and museum in San Cristobal, which included a 12 minute video of a woman giving birth. yowza.

Day One - together at last.
So after a week of Lo, Catherine, and Kenzie soaking up mega-rays on the popular beaches of Playa del Carmen, Kendal made her way to a dingy hostel room to find the ladies sipping some cold Pacificos.
